Jagger advertising new Rimmel Lipstick

The popular UK-based cosmetic brand Rimmel London is renowned for using high-profile British models and Celebrities to front their campaigns, from Kate Moss and Lily Cole to Sophie Ellis Baxter.

The newest model to grace our televisions and billboards is, as I’m sure you have seen, Georgia May Jagger, Mick Jagger– the Rolling Stones legend’s, daughter.

Now sceptics will be the first to shout out that the only reason Georgia has received any modelling contracts is due to her parentage, and not her looks or ability.  However by doing some internet research, I have found some rather stunning and striking pictures of the English Rose, and I understand completely why the head honchos at Rimmel chose her. She is the essence of the cool British beauty that Rimmel try so hard to associate themselves with, and I can see many girls looking up to her, and her lifestyle. But her parents A-List, rock star status is probably part of the reason she got the high profile contract. Many people, including myself didn’t really know who she was before this campaign, and if the advertisements didn’t have her name plastered across them, I certainly wouldn’t of realised who she was. However it turns out she has done many campaigns, including Hudson Jeans and Versace, as well as gracing the covers of British and Russian Vogue

But what I cannot understand is why they chose her to promote lipstick. Bright red lipstick at that.

Sure she is a stunning girl, but it has to be said-her teeth aren’t exactly eye candy. Now supporters would say it is a good thing her calcium enriched tombs, are far from perfect, that it’s a welcome change from the ‘perfect’ models that cover the magazines. However Georgia is still airbrushed, and is undoubtably wearing inches of makeup, and to be perfectly honest, her teeth scare me. The way in which the advertisements are shot, and the shade of lipstick accentuate her pearly whites.

Jagger For Hudson Jeans

And I’m not the only person who feels this way. There is a Facebook group which has over 175,000 fans and counting, that agree with my way of thinking.

Perhaps Rimmel should have given her foundation, or eyeshadow to model?
